Anella Washable Duster Refills

$29.99

A disposable duster does not pick dust up. It flicks it into the air, where it hangs for an hour and then lands back on the shelf you just did. The fix is a damp duster — and a disposable refill falls apart the moment you wet it.

  • Use it slightly damp — dust stops settling back an hour later
  • Machine washable, so one refill outlasts a whole box of disposables
  • Thick fleece that leaves no lint behind on the shelf
  • 360° head, and a 13" handle in the box

Push the two tines of the handle together and slide them into one of the openings in the refill, then push the sleeve down to lock it. Three seconds, and it does not come off while you are working.

How to damp dust keyboard_arrow_down
diamond_shine diamond_shine

Run the refill under the tap and wring it hard. It should feel cool, not wet — damp enough to hold dust, dry enough to leave no streak on a polished surface.

Work from the top of the room down: fan, tops of cupboards, shelves, sills, skirting boards. Dust falls, so doing it the other way round means doing it twice.

Washing them keyboard_arrow_down

Machine, normal cycle, in with the towels. No fabric softener — it coats the fibres and kills the grab, and it is the single reason people think microfibre has stopped working.

Air dry rather than tumble dry if you can. Repeated high heat is what eventually melts the fringe flat.

Three refills per pack in assorted colours, so you can keep one for the kitchen, one for the car and one for everything else.

The 360 degree head sweeping dust
Why the dust keeps coming back

Dry dusting moves dust. It does not remove it.

Run a dry duster over a shelf and most of what was on it goes into the air. It stays up there for an hour or two, and then it lands — on the shelf you just cleaned, and on everything around it.

Damp microfibre does the opposite. The dust sticks to the cloth, and it leaves the room in the washing machine.

  • Slightly damp, not wet Wring it hard. It should feel cool rather than wet — enough to hold dust, not enough to leave a streak on polished wood.
  • Disposables cannot do this Wet a paper-fibre refill and it tears apart on the first shelf. That is precisely why they are sold as a dry product.
  • Top of the room, downwards Fan, tops of cupboards, shelves, sills, skirting boards. Dust falls — doing it the other way round means doing the job twice.

What cleaning companies actually buy

Wash it. Do not bin it.

A cleaning company does not buy disposable refills. They go through too many of them, and they leave lint on everything. They buy thick microfibre and put it through the machine.

  • In with the towels Normal cycle, normal detergent. They come out of the drum ready to go again, and they do it dozens of times.
  • No fabric softener Softener coats the fibres and kills the static grab. It is the one mistake that makes people decide microfibre does not work.
  • Air dry if you can Out of the tumble dryer. Repeated high heat is what eventually melts the fringe flat and takes the pickup with it.

Honestly compared

Against a disposable and a feather duster

A disposable refill cannot be used wet and cannot be washed. A feather duster scatters more than it collects. This is the version you keep.

What buyers actually say

★★★★★

I run a small cleaning business. We stopped buying disposable refills two years ago and never went back to them.

★★★★★

Damp is the trick. Used dry it is fine. Used damp it is a completely different product.

Helen T.Verified buyer
★★★★★

They fit my existing Swiffer handle exactly, which was the thing I was worried about.

Priya S.Verified buyer
★★★★★

First wash I used softener and then wondered why it had stopped grabbing anything. Do not use softener.

Beth K.Verified buyer
★★★★★

The blind slats used to take an hour. Now it is one pass each way, because the fringe goes all the way round.

One refill has now replaced about six months of the disposable ones.

Every detail has a reason

Why damp beats dry

Dry dusting is mostly relocation: the dust goes up, floats around, and comes back down on what you just cleaned. Water is what makes it stick to the cloth and leave the room.

Why fleece and not fluff

Feather and fluffy dusters have nothing for dust to hold onto, so they scatter it. Cut fleece has thousands of edges — and it does not shed lint onto the shelf.

Why the fringe goes all the way round

A flat pad only works on the push. A 360° head cleans on the way back too, which halves the passes on blind slats, fan blades and radiator fins.

Why washable changes the maths

Disposable refills are a subscription you did not sign up for. One washable refill goes through the machine dozens of times, which is why cleaning companies buy them and households do not.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my Swiffer duster?

Yes, Swiffer hand dusters and wands of the same format. A 13" handle is included in the pack anyway, so it works whether or not you already own one.

How damp is damp?

Under the tap and wrung out hard. It should feel cool, not wet. If it leaves a streak on a polished surface, it is too wet.

How do I wash them?

Machine, normal cycle, in with the towels. No fabric softener — it coats the fibres and kills the grab. Air dry if you can.

How many washes do they last?

Dozens. The fringe does soften over time and pickup drops off slowly rather than suddenly, which is the honest version — but it is a different order of lifespan from a disposable you bin after one shelf.

Can I use it dry?

Yes, and it works better dry than a disposable does. But damp is the reason to own it: dry, you are still moving some of the dust around.

What can I use it on?

Ceiling fans, blinds, skirting boards, shelves, curtains, sills, keyboards, car interiors, radiator fins, the tops of cupboards. Anywhere dust sits and a cloth is awkward.

Does it come with the handle?

Yes. A 13" wand with a hanging loop, plus three refills.

Which colours will I get?

Assorted. They are identical apart from the colour, and having different ones is genuinely useful — one for the kitchen, one for the car, one for everywhere else.
